Translated by Suki MMA
DREAM official website posted an interview of Joachim Hansen on July 30. This interview was taken place on July 22.
- Congratulations! Now you are a DREAM lightweight champion as well as a winner of the tournament.
Thank you. I'm very happy and relaxed. I'm walking with light steps every day now.
- I suppose it was a great day for you yesterday.
My dream came true. By good luck, a favorable wind arose toward me and I didn't miss a chance. I'm appreciative of my teammates, fans and my family.
- You came here to fight in a reserved match.
I concentrated a fight with Black Mamba and didn't think about anything else when I was training. Frankly speaking, I had a slight hope to fight in the final somewhere in my mind.
- Is it hard to condition... [Read More]

Aoki's column from kamipro.com |
|
Jul 26, 2008 - 2:01 PM - by DreamFC
|

Translated by Suki MMA from Kamipro
Aoki's column was updated on July 23.
I experienced a lot in this tournament. Even though I couldn't get a result I wanted, I have no regret about my performance because I did my best.
I lost because I was weaker than Hansen. All I can do now is to train hard and to be stronger. I cried after the fight because I knew my fans and supporters, who were looking forward to seeing me winning the tournament, were disappointed. In addition, when my teammates told me that I did my best, more tears came up to my eyes.
I couldn't achieve my goal this time; however, I definitely come back and get a title sometimes soon. I improve myself and I know I can be better fighter. No matter what other people say, I'm the one who represents DREAM!

** CaolUno **
- How was your fight?
I wish I could win. I deeply regret that I was dragged into Aoki's pace.

I don't want to tell the reason. I was very emotional.

DREAM 5 Video Highlights |
|
Jul 22, 2008 - 10:12 PM - by DreamFC
|
Here are some of the notable highlights from the July 21st DREAM 5 event held in Osaka, Japan.
Knockout of the night: Hansen vs Aoki. Due to Eddie Alvarez's eye injury, Joachim (submitted Kuntar "Black Mamba" Gill earlier that evening) was asked to fight in the final round of the lightwieght grand prix tournament. With his devastating punch against Shinya Aoki, Joachim became Dream's first lightweight champion - technically. A Hansen vs Alvarez rematch is inevitable. Let's hope the second time around is just as good as the first, in which many may consider as the fight of the year.
Fight of the night: Alverez vs Kawajiri. Eddie Alvarez has a lot of heart and determination in his earlier fight against Hansen. His fight against Kawajiri proves it even more. His popularity in Japan is growing and is quickly climbing the ranks as one of the top lightweight fighters in the world.
Submission of the night: Hunt... [Read More]

Tokoro Vs Yamazaki Added To Dream 5 |
|
Jul 15, 2008 - 10:12 PM - by DreamFC
|
by Al Yu, MMAWeekly.com
Hideo Tokoro has been added to the fifth installment of Dream, which will be held on July 21 at the Osaka Castle Hall in Japan. The “Cinderella Boy” is slated to face Grabaka fighter Takeshi Yamazaki. The fight will be held at the featherweight limit.
Tokoro is coming off of a unanimous decision victory over newcomer Darren Uyenoyama at Dream 4. The match-up was highly considered the most entertaining fight of the event. Takeshi Yamazaki recently made a successful Dream debut, defeating Pancrase champion Shoji Maruyama in the opening bout at Dream 3.
Dream 5 will be headlined by the Lightweight Grand Prix Finals. Shinya Aoki is set to face Caol Uno and former Shooto champion Tatsuya Kawajiri takes on Eddie Alvarez in the opposite semi-final bracket, the winners meeting in the final bout on the same night.... [Read More]

Yoshihiro Akiyama Inverview |
|
Jul 13, 2008 - 11:25 PM - by DreamFC
|

Translated by Suki MMA
DREAM official website posted an interview with Yoshihiro Aikiyama on July 13. This interview was taken place on July 10.
- Your opponent was finally announced. What do you think?
I feel a kind of relieved. I got a clear short term goal; thus, I'm pumped up for the fight.
- What do you think about your opponent?
He hasn't been in MMA long. That's his strength as well as his weakness. I cannot fully analyze what he does.
- What do you think about fighting a pro wrestler?
Nothing. I flatter myself that I represent Judo. If he is proud of himself as a pro wrestler like I am as a Judo specialist, I respect that.
- What did you think when you... [Read More]
